Колективна монографія про Людмилу Старицьку-Черняхівську є новим словом у дослідженні життя і творчості талановитої письменниці, громадсько-культурної та політичної діячки України. З урахуванням матеріалів проведеної в Інституті літератури ім. Т. Г. Шевченка НАН України Всеукраїнської наукової конференції до 155-річчя Людмили Старицької-Черняхівської, здійснена спроба осмислити її життєвий і творчий шлях у декількох іпостасях, а саме: як трагічну і героїчну постать нашої історії, у гранях її таланту як поетеси, драматургині, прозаїкині, перекладачки, театрознавиці, літературознавиці та в родинному колі її оточення. До монографії додані досі неопубліковані й маловідомі в Україні архівні матеріали про життя і творчість мисткині й громадянки з першопочатковим коротким коментарем до них.
Тема меморіальності допонена присвятою книжки пам’яті докторки філологічних наук відділу класичної української літератури Інституту літератури ім. Т. Г. Шевченка НАН України Ольги Камінчук.

Abstract
The collective monograph about Liudmyla Starytska-Cherniakhivska is a new word in life and work studying of the talented writer, public, cultural, and political figure in Ukraine. Considering the materials of the All-Ukrainian scientific conference at the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, this paper is an attempt to comprehend her life and creative path in several ways, namely, as a tragic and heroic figure of our history, in the facets of her talent as a poet, playwright, prose writer, translator, theatre critic, and literary critic, and in her family circle. The monograph includes unpublished and unknown archival materials about her life and work as an artist and citizen, along with a brief commentary on them.
The concept of memoriality is complemented by the dedication of the book to Olha Kaminchuk, Doctor of Philology, Department of Classical Ukrainian Literature, Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
